Whether your project is an industrial coating, equipment painting, or metal finishing project, a NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) inspection helps to ensure quality control on your finished project. A NACE inspection can only be conducted by a certified inspector. The NACE Institute administers certifications on a variety of disciplines. The primary focus of the inspection is the documentation of services of applying liquid coatings by brush, roller, or spray to steel and other substrates. NACE certification covers different levels and specialties for industrial environments.
A NACE inspector evaluates the project to ensure expected quality and that the underlying material are protected from corrosion, structural collapse, equipment failure, or dangerous conditions. Additionally, the inspector monitors the conditions where the coating is to be applied, and if necessary, recommend coating types to protect the equipment from harsh corrosive environments. They can also recommend surface preparation methods. During the process, the inspector oversees the application to assure the coating is correctly prepared, applied, and manufacturers specifications were followed. To test that the coating is at the appropriate thickness and provides the required adhesive strength, an inspector may use both destructive and non-destructive testing methods
While NACE inspections are not mandatory, they ultimately save money and provide peace of mind that the application of the coating was done at the highest standards.
